FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ's)

Sleep apnea is a condition where your breathing repeatedly stops and starts during sleep. The most common type is obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), which occurs when the muscles in your throat relax and block your airway. Each pause in breathing can last from a few seconds to a minute, and may happen dozens or even hundreds of times per night. This disrupts your sleep quality significantly even if you are not fully aware of waking up.

The most common symptoms include: loud or frequent snoring, waking up gasping or choking, feeling unrefreshed after a full night of sleep, morning headaches, excessive daytime sleepiness, difficulty concentrating, irritability or mood changes and a bed partner noticing that you stop breathing during sleep. Many people in the UAE live with these symptoms for years without realising they have sleep apnea.

Yes. Untreated sleep apnea significantly increases the risk of heart disease (up to 3 times), stroke (up to 4 times), high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and accidents caused by daytime drowsiness. It also worsens existing conditions such as obesity and is linked to depression and poor metabolic health. Early diagnosis and treatment are essential.

After completing your one-night test, your data is uploaded automatically. Your personalised sleep report will be ready within 24 to 48 hours, reviewed by a qualified sleep physician.

Yes. Sleep Easy delivers the WatchPAT home sleep test to all seven Emirates — Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Al Ain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, and Umm Al Quwain.

The right device depends on your AHI score, the type of sleep apnea you have, your pressure requirements, and your comfort preferences. Sleep Easy's team will review your sleep study results and recommend the most appropriate machine — CPAP, BiPAP, or APAP — for your individual situation.

CPAP mask cushions should be replaced every 14 to 30 days depending on the type. Tubing should be replaced every 3 months, and the full machine every 3 to 5 years. See our CPAP Resupply Guide for a complete replacement schedule.

Sleep Easy provides comprehensive after-sale support. Our sleep specialists will follow up on your test results, guide you through your treatment options, assist with device setup and are available to answer any ongoing questions. We are committed to being with you throughout your sleep health journey — not just at the point of sale.

For obstructive sleep apnea, CPAP therapy remains the most effective and widely recommended treatment. The right choice — CPAP, BiPAP or APAP — depends on your specific AHI score and what you find most comfortable. Our team will guide you to the ideal device.

For mild cases, lifestyle changes such as weight loss, positional therapy and alcohol avoidance can significantly reduce symptoms. Oral appliances are another option. However most patients with moderate or severe sleep apnea achieve the best results with CPAP or BiPAP therapy.

Many patients report noticeably improved sleep quality within the first few nights of CPAP therapy. Energy levels, mood and concentration typically improve within 1 to 4 weeks of consistent use.

Testing typically begins with a symptoms assessment, followed by a home sleep test or in-lab polysomnography. The SleepEasy WatchPAT One home test measures seven key signals overnight and produces a clinically valid sleep study report — all from the comfort of your home.

An in-lab sleep study (polysomnography) takes place in a clinical environment and monitors many parameters including brain waves. A home sleep test like WatchPAT monitors cardiovascular and respiratory signals. For diagnosing obstructive sleep apnea, our AASM-validated home test provides the same diagnostic reliability at a much lower cost and with far greater convenience.

Your report will include an AHI (Apnea-Hypopnea Index) score: fewer than 5 events per hour is normal, 5 to 15 is mild sleep apnea, 15 to 30 is moderate and above 30 is severe. Our team will explain exactly what your score means and recommend the most appropriate treatment.

No. SleepEasy makes the process straightforward. Our qualified sleep physicians can review and issue an order for your test as part of the process, so you can get started immediately without a separate clinic visit.

The WatchPAT One is clinically validated and endorsed by the AASM. Studies have shown it provides diagnostic accuracy equivalent to in-lab polysomnography for diagnosing obstructive sleep apnea.

All results are reviewed by a board-certified sleep physician. In the rare case that insufficient data was recorded due to technical errors, you will be provided with a re-test at no additional charge.

We offer fast delivery across all UAE Emirates. Most customers in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah receive their kit within 1 to 2 business days.

Follow the schedule above as a minimum. In the UAE climate where dust and humidity can vary significantly, you may find that filters and cushions need replacing more frequently than in milder environments. If your therapy feels less effective or your mask is showing signs of wear and tear, replace sooner rather than later.

If your old machine is still functional, consider donating it to a sleep health charity. If it is beyond use, dispose of it responsibly through an e-waste programme. Sleep Easy can advise you on appropriate options in the UAE.
